Coverage rules change—verify the current benefit before treatment
A clinic advertisement is not proof that a procedure is reimbursable.

Thai Social Security, public schemes and private policies can use different definitions, limits, network rules and pre-authorisation processes. Dental implant components and related surgery may be excluded or only partly covered. Confirm directly with the payer using the exact procedure and provider.
Questions for the payer
- Is the implant fixture covered or only extraction and denture care?
- Is pre-authorisation required?
- Must the provider be in a network?
- Which codes, radiographs and clinical notes are required?
- What currency and receipt format are accepted?
For international insurance
Request a written estimate before treatment and ask whether overseas elective care is eligible. Travel insurance often excludes planned dental treatment and may only address unexpected emergencies.
Keep a complete claim file
- Itemised tax invoice
- Diagnosis and treatment codes where provided
- Dentist and facility details
- Radiographs and operative summary when requested
- Proof of payment and translated documents if required
Cross-border care checklist
- Confirm the treating dentist's identity, role and Thai licence through an authoritative source.
- Obtain a written itemised plan, alternatives, material choices, risks and cancellation terms.
- Keep flights flexible until the in-person examination confirms the plan.
- Arrange a named pathway for follow-up and urgent assessment after returning home.
- Take implant labels, radiographs, operative notes, prescriptions and invoices with you.
