BANGKOK IMPLANT / READ & UNDERSTAND
What a dental implant treatment actually includes
An implant is the fixture in bone; the abutment and crown or bridge are separate parts of the restoration.

A quoted “implant price” may describe only the fixture or a wider package. Before travelling, ask for the fixture, abutment, restoration, imaging, medicines, temporary teeth and reviews to be listed separately. The implant is not a maintenance-free or guaranteed replacement for a natural tooth.
The three components
The fixture is placed in jawbone and usually needs time to integrate. The abutment connects the fixture to the visible restoration. The crown, bridge or removable overdenture provides the chewing surface. Confirm the manufacturer and model for every component, because replacement parts must remain available after you return home.
Benefits and limitations
- Implants can avoid preparing adjacent teeth and may improve stability compared with a removable denture in selected patients.
- They can still develop biological complications around the gum and bone, or technical problems such as a loose screw, chipped ceramic or worn attachment.
- A treatable natural tooth should not be extracted solely because an implant sounds newer or easier.
Records to take home
- Implant passport or product labels
- Pre- and post-treatment radiographs
- Final treatment summary and medicines used
- Written maintenance interval and emergency contact
- Itemised invoice and exact warranty exclusions
Cross-border care checklist
- Confirm the treating dentist's identity, role and Thai licence through an authoritative source.
- Obtain a written itemised plan, alternatives, material choices, risks and cancellation terms.
- Keep flights flexible until the in-person examination confirms the plan.
- Arrange a named pathway for follow-up and urgent assessment after returning home.
- Take implant labels, radiographs, operative notes, prescriptions and invoices with you.

A LITTLE MORE CLARITY
Fixed or removable? Make the distinction clear.
Fixed restorations
Implant crowns and bridges are not removed by the patient. Cleaning around and underneath them needs instruction.
Implant-retained removable dentures
Attachments help retain the denture. The patient removes it for cleaning as instructed.

Population evidence and patient information cannot predict an individual result. The treating team must explain how the evidence applies to your examination.
