Bone grafting can expand options, but it adds uncertainty and healing time
The graft type and timing depend on the defect, implant position, tissue condition and restorative plan.
A graft may be placed before or with an implant, but it does not guarantee that an implant can be loaded on the original schedule. Ask what material is proposed, why it is needed, whether a membrane is used, how success is assessed and what happens if healing is incomplete.

Travel implications
Grafting may require longer observation, more review visits and a later restorative trip. Ask about flying, pressure symptoms, temporary teeth, diet, suture removal and access to urgent care before booking travel.
Records and consent
Request the graft product name, lot information where available, operative note and post-operative images. Consent should cover infection, exposure, loss of graft volume, sinus complications where relevant and the possibility of changing the plan.

- Confirm the treating dentist's identity, role and Thai licence through an authoritative source.
- Obtain a written itemised plan, alternatives, material choices, risks and cancellation terms.
- Keep flights flexible until the in-person examination confirms the plan.
- Arrange a named pathway for follow-up and urgent assessment after returning home.
- Take implant labels, radiographs, operative notes, prescriptions and invoices with you.
